About Us
Lisa Sondhof, President and Founder, founded Operation Gingerbread Saratoga Springs with a little inspiration from her son and a family tradition they both loved.
When Lisa’s son needed to complete volunteer hours for school, he wanted to do something different. Remembering how much he and his friends loved making gingerbread houses as children, they came up with an idea—why not share that experience with others?
Their first gingerbread house workshop took place at a local nursing home, where the residents had an incredible time creating, laughing, and connecting. Seeing the joy that one simple activity brought to everyone, Lisa knew they had discovered something special.
What began as a school volunteer project soon became Operation Gingerbread Saratoga Springs, an organization dedicated to bringing free gingerbread house workshops to schools, nursing homes, and communities.
Today, Lisa continues to turn that simple family tradition into something meaningful, bringing people together through creativity, kindness, and a little holiday magic.
Because sometimes, the smallest ideas create the biggest smiles.
